Breaking News About AuthorLove

Wait for it…

Authorlove is soon to be a yearly campaign and have it’s own website!

:-)

I bought the domain today www.authorlove.com. (Not yet active) I created the Google account for the webmail –> Contact.authorlove [at] gmail.com. I made the Twitter account Author_Love .

The AuthorLove Competition:

This will be starting later this year. The premise is to help promote the writing community spirit and promote awesome authors and new books. Basically, you will sign up to participate –> Pick some authors you think we all need to know about (including debut authors) and during the competition week we will be posting blog posts ‘highlighting’ this author. You can interview them, post a review, link to their blog or what ever.

The blog page will also host a twitter list and G+ list of authors participating so we can all follow each other and make some great new friends.

EXCITED!!

Who wouldn’t be excited :-)

WANT TO PARTICIPATE?

Getting Over the Fear of Writing Your Novel

Today’s post is simple:

Get Over Your Fear of Writing Your Novel

Don’t read this post just open the WIP and write something.

“JUST WRITE”

This is why today i am not writing a blog post. I got distracted and thought, “what else could I be doing other than this difficult scene?” I came up with blog post! –> I then slapped myself in the head. –> I am not writing a post. –> I am writing!

“JUST WRITE”

Just Write That Book!

You can learn unless you write
You can’t get better unless you write
You can’t edit what you haven’t written
You can’t be proud of what you haven’t written
You can’t share your work with others unless you write it
You can’t sell what you haven’t written
You are not a Writer if you don’t actually write!

So just get on with it – No more excuses and just do it. Let the words pour in what ever manner you chose. You can delete it later, no one ever needs to see the mash of bad spelling and grammar that poured out of your fingers. You can edit that. You can perfect that. You can’t unless you write it.

“JUST WRITE”

The #WriteCampaign Writing Community Spirit

Showing #Authorlove and Naming Awesome Writers

A few days ago I sat down and wrote a list of all the amazing people that I have met over the past year or so. Many of them were participants of #WriteCampaign, (or the previous Crusaders). Some were just awesome people I found as I went trawling through the amazing world of Writing Blogs.

  • I wrote this list from memory.
  • I did not use my Google reader to help me.
  • In fact there was only two names where I forgot a first or last name of someone.
  • They are a mixture of new writers that I admire and new writers that I have just met.
  • They are all people whose name has stuck in my head for a good reason.
  • I had over fifty names

More Writers on the List

Yes You Heard, 50 Names on my List Without Even Trying

Showing #authorlove

Now for those that know me, you will know that I am very keen to help other writers build connections with each other. Sharing and helping each other through the writing world is so important. We should not feel like we are in competition with each other.

See my page explaining  #authorlove here

What I am Doing With This List

  1. You are all going on a page of my blog with links to you websites.
  2. I have added your blogs to my Google reader in two groups of twenty five (so far) and I am reading your blogs on a weekly basis. Commenting where I can. Many of you are also in my #WriteCampaign Groups so that is cool as well.
  3. Sending other people your way, by mentioning your blogs and/or books around the web.

I still need to set up this page, however the link –> Link will be here when it is done <–

 Thank you:

So i’d like to say “Thank You” to all these authors who have provided me with entertaining reads, great support in the writing community and or great blogs to read. You have my thanks, you guys all rock!

General Messages:

If you want an invite to Google+ send me an email here. Or have a look at my post about using Google+ for #WriteCampaign here.

Don’t forget to sign up for my #authorlove competition –> “Where can I buy your book?”  If you are participating in Rachael Harrie’s Write Campaign (Platform building Event) or have been a Crusader in the past, please add your current published book to the linky as I will be buying a few of your books over the next month and writing reviews and so on.

Using Google+ for the #writecampaign

The Awesome Power that is Google+ –> Writers, you should use it!

This post contains:

  • What is G+
  • How the #writecampaign participants can use it
  • How to join if you are not already in G+

Google +

As i’m sure most of you are aware, Google+ is the “new thing” is social media tools out. It is just awesome. I MUCH prefer it to twitter in most respects. I now find twitter so impersonal. G+ is like having the real time streaming of twitter emersed with blog posts and blog comments. With a dash of Facebook friends thrown in.

You can post your blog post, with a little blurb about it asking for comment on a topic… some will go and look at your blog and leave comments there. Some will leave them on G+, the interaction on G+ is awesome. Real time discussion about a issue or problem is fantastic. Unlike Twitter where the replies take up room in the stream and are really short. On G+ it is done in the comments of the post. So much more handy. –> Ok so you are worried that blog comments will go down, hmmm but you are making real connections on G+. I’m happy with that trade off.

Best of all you can limit who sees what!

f you only want your closer writing friends to see your query for Beta-readers. They only they need to see it. If however your book is about to be launched and you want to scream it to the world, you can scream it to everyone who wants to listen to you.

Twitter on the other hand you have no power over who sees your tweets. Your Twitter readers decide if they want to see your tweets or not.

#writecampaign –> What can you use it for?

Well it is a nice place for sharing out posts. If you all follow each other, then you can add everyone to a “Writecampaign circle and share your posts:-) Or you can write messages about how you are going with the campaign and challenges.

I have made a list for everyone in the #writecampaign on Google+ –> go HERE TO ADD YOUR NAME <– If you have not already done so. From this post you can easily hover over each name and add it to your circles. Easy!

–> Mini blog plug (sorry) –> don’t forget to sign up for my competition. If you have a book published and would like me to buy it/review it slash whatever. Sign up to the linky list. In the post here. I will buy at least one book a week maybe more.<–

But I’m not in G+ and I can’t get an invite!

Sure you can! Just send me an email, tweet, message with THE EMAIL YOU WANT CONNECTED TO YOU G+ ACCOUNT.

In other words I need you to put the email address you want connected in the body of the email. This makes it very clear to me that you want that email connected.

If you already have a Google account (google blogger/feedburner ….) then use that email connected with that account. Then your profile will be imported. (You can change it of course)

My secure Email form is here –> Email Sarah for a G+ invite, leaving your email address in the body of the message

I’m in G+ and want to have that badge thinggy on my blog

I have a page where I have described this process –> Add a badge details From here you can add a badge to BLOGGER or WORDPRESS. Assuming you can add an HTML widget to your blog. (Blogger no problems) (WordPress, should be no problems). There are lots of pictures to talk you through.

BLOG LAUNCH:

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this new blog launch today. All your comments have eased my mind that people are going to come and find me at the new site. Please make sure you update your RSS feeds and things as they are obviously different to the old Precocious Scribe.

Problems so far:

  • No ability (yet) to subscribe to comments (fixing soon)
  • RSS has been playing up
  • Feedburner not recognising my statistics yet. (I still have zero subscribers according to them) I know that at least 15 of you have sent me personal messages/emails to say you have actually signed up to the RSS, so I feel a little better. It’s horrid seeing it at zero instead of hundreds.
  • Still have little content, the pages are rather bare…
  • Basic formatting error and messyness.

On the whole I am happy:-)

Thanks again guys you are awesome
